We've been going here for years.. The food tastes like it should, nothing fancy, but good. They have early bird, breakfast and daily specials. You can never go wrong with eggs, toast and bacon or sausage. The meatloaf is moist but has bell peppers in it, which is unusual. The veal cutlet is delicious as it comes out hot and fresh. The Italian wedding soup and shrimp bisque are so yummy, I could've had a second bowl. This little mom and pop place is family owned and are the servers and cooks. They have 2 locations in the area. It gets packed for both breakfast and lunch, especially on the weekends. So, come in early or you might finding yourself waiting for a seat.

What a great switch-up from a typical breakfast location! My husband and I stopped by Johnny's Diner with a friend one morning after stumbling across it on Yelp, and boy oh boy we were not disappointed one bit! It was a Sunday morning and this place was pretty full with lots of folks who seemed to be "regulars". Their menu had pretty much any typical breakfast item you could imagine. Although we arrived around 10 AM, they were already serving items from their lunch menu as well. The tuna salad was great-- which is usually a hit or miss item at restaurants. We will absolutely be back!

The best breakfast in Orlando. It beats IHOP and kekes, also half the price. The whole staff makes you feel like family, and the servers are the best. Marina and Martina are always on point with refills, check, and bringing the food out quickly. Worth 5 stars and another visit soon.

This family owned slice of Americana is a local gem! As a lover of diners, I have experienced practically every sort of menu. Their menu is diverse and visually well conceived. They have a fair amount of breakfast options; however, it does not stop there. Their menu has a Greek influence with gyro sandwiches and entrees. I stuck with breakfast and ordered the greek omelette. As a goto, it dawned on me that I have never had a greek omelette with gyro! What a treat! The atmosphere is warm and buzzing with regulars. Eating alone presents an opportunity to take in the vibes. It just feels good to see people interacting with each other in such a positive way. My waitress was friendly and personable. For a location so frequented by regulars, it is nice to feel welcomed as a first timer. There is a sense that is everyone is family here; something special that is hard to come by these days. Bottomline: A family owned diner beloved by locals and full of heart. What else could you ask for in a diner?

The other reviews sum it up pretty well. This is a good no frills diner. My breakfast was fantastic and some dishes have a little greek flare. The service was prompt and helpful. I also enjoyed the coffee, which is essential for me when choosing a place for breakfast. Pretty neat place, for breakfast and lunch. Can't wait to go back.

    (5)
  • Patti M.

This is a straight up, no frills diner and for that, it rates excellent. I was disappointed my omelette was made with canned mushrooms until I tasted it, and I quickly came to realize it was pretty dang tasty regardless (although fresh mushrooms would have made it REALLY delish). It wasn't swimming in cheese and butter and the egg was done perfectly, not overdone as is common practice. I had a side of grits and toast, that was actually toasted (another seemingly rare occurrence these days!). The servers were awesome and despite the volume, kept the crowd moving without rushing anyone. The price was right too....and for added bonus you watch dirty old men run their vehicles through the "Baywash Bikini Car Wash" just across the parking lot.

Always great breakfast at a great price. Hash browns actually done right! Four slices of bacon with breakfast specials. Excellent corned beef hash. Good pancakes. Excellent service.

Johnny's has been around for 19 years...and today I finally tried it. Really great, and I'll be back for more. Traditional home style cooking, open until 3pm. I had their biscuits and gravy with scrambled eggs and loved it. The biscuits were not crispy or hard like some other places, nor were they very greasy. The sausage gravy was nice and thick, and had a great amount of black pepper in it. I'm a fan of black pepper and I heard traditionally the gravy has lots of pepper, so I appreciated this quite a bit! The one thing that I was really impressed by was the service. Sure, it's a small place in an older shopping plaza...but the place was packed. The servers smiled, were friendly (and pretty!) and unfortunately the service isn't commonly like that when you visit many homestyle restaurants in Orlando. Give it a shot...you'll enjoy it. :)

My first visit. The food was very good. I was shocked by how fast our order was delivered to our table. Love athe local business feel.

  • Paul K.

We stopped in for a quick lunch and we were pleasantly surprised! The food was great and the service was friendly. The Greek omelet and Chefs Salad were fine! They have great coffee, a fact the always guarantees a Diner to be worth a return visit! Although we do not live in the area we will definitely stop in next time we are in the neighborhood!

The food is amazing, the prices are great, and the staff is so friendly! I've been here for breakfast as well as lunch and if I hadn't started a diet, I'd be going back all the time! Let's just say, I know where I'll be going on my "cheat" days. I've had the biscuits and gravy as well as the chicken fried steak. I'm a biscuits and gravy "expert" ; anywhere I go that has them, I have to try them. This place now has my favorite biscuits and gravy in Orlando. I ordered it with the ham & eggs, and I think it was like...$6. Yum! The portions are generous, especially for the price. It's nothing fancy but it has to be one of my favorite places in Orlando, now. The girls who work there are so friendly and on top of everything, and as a country music fan, I love being able to sit and listen to the music they play!

  • Liz M.

My husband and I really wanted to give it half a star higher but the phone app doesn't let me do .5 scores. For the prices you are paying, this is a good deal. Decent diner food at extremely affordable prices. Especially if you make it during their breakfast special times from 6am-11am. The hubby and I just missed the special because of a late morning.I got a greek omelet with hash browns which was actually pretty good. Fluffy eggs, flavorful gyro meat and onions with green peppers. My husband got a breakfast plate with the usual fixings: pancakes, eggs, ham, sausage, and bacon. He thought the eggs were just okay as well as an average rating for the pancakes. He did love the breakfast meats though. Overall, good food if you are feeling in the mood for a breakfast served fast and warm and are too lazy to cook it yourself!

This is truly an old fashioned diner. The food is cheap and tasty, and you get served pretty quick. A great local breakfast spot, this place has been here forever. My dad loves the blueberry pancakes, and he's gotten all of us hooked. Definitely give it a try!

    (4)
  • Ross L.

Pretty much the go-to place for breakfast and the occasional lunch as well for my girlfriend and I. Blueberry pancakes are the bomb! There is absolutely nothing on the menu here that you can't get somewhere else, but everything is always so fresh and so good. Can't get much cheaper than Johnny's either. Pretty obvious family element too with the staff there too which adds to the home feeling here. If you want something cheap, delicious, and quick then this is the place to go.

    (5)
  • Ed M.

If you want great food that is reasonably priced and a great staff that offer a "feel at home" environment then this is the place for you. All their food is delish and promptly served. In 4 years I've never had a complaint.

  • Stacey H.

Had a great Lunch experience there... Family owned and food was excellent. I was very surprised to see how quick the servers where. Really organized! Thank you for the great experience. Will be back again soon.

  • Ljs B.

Sound choice for breakfast. I love the pancakes, French toast, biscuits and gravy; my hubby enjoys the omelets. The waitresses are awesome. Definitely a gem. Nothing fancy but definitely our go to breakfast joint.

    (5)
  • Scott B.

I'm amazed at the rave reviews here. Bacon was paper thin and crappy. Pancakes tiny and the coffee horrible. Everyone here talks about how great the servers are, I'd rather have rude servers and great food.

    (1)
  • Andi C.

We tried Johnny's diner based on yelp recommendations. I'm glad we did- it's an overall solid diner with decent food the place was packed. They obviously have a loyal following. There are better places in Orlando for breakfast but this is fine if you are near Semoran and University. Patsios is better for Gyros.

    (3)
  • Randolph Z.

You want a diner? You got a diner. Cheap? Check. Large portions? Check. Heart attack? Check. I wouldn't get the french toast again. I would get biscuits and gravy. Better than anything, though, are the omelets. Imagine my jealousy at watching them march by, five eggs at a time, as my stomach digested itself in anticipation. About that, you might have to wait at prime times, like when the church/fornicating couple/hangover crowd rolls in on Sunday morning. They do accept credit cards.

  • Mychael J.

This is the real deal! This is a family run business with the traditional characteristics of a true NY diner. The food is great, the prices are very reasonable and the waitresses are wonderful! I really feel like I'm back in NY when I'm here. You can tell two steps in the door that there is something special about this place. This is my Breakfast Place! Denny's can go stick it up their A$$!

    (4)
  • Kalvin K.

A good hometown diner located in a shopping strip mall. I'll be honest, the location is kind of strange, but the food here is top notch diner style food. I would definitely recommend coming here on an empty stomach because it's tasty and it's inexpensive!

    (5)
  • Katrina H.

I've been coming to Johnny's Diner since I was a kid. It's hard to find a real diner in Orlando and my New York born-and-raised Dad was thrilled when he found this one. With large portions of comfort food at cheap prices, this diner is a refreshing alternative to both breakfast chain restaurants and snooty, upscale brunch joints. At Johnny's, you won't find mason jars filled with bacon jam or wheat germ pancakes, just good, authentic, breakfast food.

    (4)
  • Jake F.

This is a great spot. I was a little surprised at how cheap my meal ended up being. I had biscuits and gravy, 2 eggs over easy, 2 sides of sausage and bacon, and ham. The total was about $10. The food was great, and staff was friendly. For sure coming back for more to try their lunch menu.

    (4)
  • Ralph P.

This is a very good breakfast diner with a plain, non distracting, dining room. The food is very good and well seasoned and the server was swift, polite and attentive. Perfect timing on the coffee refill is always a plus. Also, the prices were good. A hit in all areas.

    (5)
  • Samantha S.

Friendly staff, and great food! I had the country fried steak and it was delicious and fresh. No complaints. From the out side the place doesn't look like nuch, but once you are in it has that dinner feel.

Their blueberry pancakes are so good! I haven't actually ordered anything else because they are so tasty. The servers are very friendly and on top of their tables. It has such a cute and homey feel.

Great local diner. Small. They keep it movin'. No Frills. Get in and continue for the rest of your day. We sat at the bar. I had eggs, hash browns and sausage. My friend had the same. Quick and friendly statf.

If your looking for good home cooked food and want to take a break from the chains this is sure to hit the spot where here it's breakfast or lunch even dinner their dishes haven't disappointed us yet. Their eggs are excellent and gyros and burgers are perfect. All the staff are friendly and even remember you when you start being a repeat customer. They know how my husband likes his coffee and how I like my half and half iced tea. Not a fancy place just a good place for good home cooked food and friendly wait staff.

I always like to find a place with good breakfast that are not a chain restaurant. They have good biscuits and gravy. Also all your other fav's are there too. Very good price and food came out fast even tho they were busy.

  • Linda M.

This is a great diner. The food taste great not a greasy spoon. The staff remembers my name and recognize me when I come in. Very friendly atmosphere. I would give the 5th start but, I think they need to close for a few days and do a deep cleaning OR a small makeover due to old ceiling tiles and floor. This place is so busy, I wonder if they can't find the time. That's a good thing. :)

  • Jim B.

The Very Special Breakfast had pancakes AND an English Muffin... a little too much bread... It was OK to sub xtra bacon for links. They serve "spread" rather than butter :-( The food was good. It's across from Full Sail so I'm sure they stay busy during the week. I was disturbed that there was a small child hanging out in the kitchen... she was also doing chores like bringing clean glasses from the back to the counter... I really don't want some snotty nosed strangers kid handling something that I will be drinking out of...

  • Brittany B.

I've been bringing my father here for breakfast instead of Denny's to escape the greasiness of chain restaurant breakfast food. I've eaten their pancakes, eggs, hash browns, sausage, bacon, and biscuits with gravy - all are delicious, non-greasy, and fairly price. Flavorful coffee with prompt refills.

  • Sandra B.

Came here for breakfast with some friends. They had great food, great service, great prices. This little treasure really lives up to the reviews it's had so far. Can't wait to come back for more biscuits and gravy, and more pancakes!!

This a local good place I ordered the special breakfast. Only order that it your super hungry and get someone else to help you with because it's really big. Also the country fried stake is really good. The only thing I don't recommend is the pancakes they taste like plastic. But other than that good place.

    (3)
  • John S.

I could tell you what I ordered & how my experience was, but that would be boring & redundant.. Johnny's Diner is always packed & serves satisfying portions and quality with out-of-the-park service. Very well done.. simple, fast, & full. Lifetime customer.

Great food, friendly staff and great service. Breakfast and lunch are excellent and dinner will not disappoint. Homestyle cooking and all fresh ingredients. I highly recommend this Diner! Closest thing to a NY Diner in Florida.

The food is ridiculously delicious, we cleaned our plates. Friendly staff with a small town diner feel. I can not wait to go back and try something else, although the greek omlette and pancakes were fantastic.

  • Prof J.

It's a very basic looking diner inside and out. But the irony of this place is you would never expect eye candy for all the waitresses. It's not like they were skimpy, they were just really cute. Other than that, the food was pretty good and didn't hurt my pockets. I had the johnny omlette with gravy smothered over it and a waffle - which was soft and fluffy. This place is a good breakfast joint for the locals. and hey, why not have some eye candy while your there? I wish the place was open all day long, instead of til 3 though.

    (4)
  • Victoria S.

I love this place. Great food great service. Family owned and operated. The waitresses are all so nice and friendly. I ordered the breakfast special only $4.95 for a plate full of delicious food.I will definitely be back for more...

After a night of debauchery, nothing beats the hangover like a huge plate of heart-stopping goodness. And hey, let's face it...sometimes it's PAINFULLY apparent the next day that you've spent all night Shufflin' shufflin. Here you can avoid the more civilized folk that may tsk tsk at your unkempt hair and and Jager spattered clothing and shovel down some great home-made grub. I thought it was cool that the entire staff consisted of family members but wasn't too surprised because of the warm atmosphere exuded at this place. The ladies are gorgeous, extremely helpful, and can throw together a mean plate of Biscuits and Gravy. You could go down the street and pay more for a dressed up alternative at the myriad of chain restaurants in Winter Park, but really...why would you want to?

    (4)
  • Mike M.

This us one of the best breakfast diners in town. The #7 is the best value for the money. Food is consistently very good and the service is great as well. It's appearance is nothing special, but that is what makes this place even better!

    (4)
  • Katelyn C.

I have been to this place with a school friend for breakfast and it is a very hole in the wall, loving , caring, awesome service place! While I was not able to eat here due to having to be gluten free and it seems as though anything I ordered here would be contaminated, I do not hold that against them! It is a back home, southern feel of a place and my classmates loved their food, while I appreciated the service.

    (5)
  • Alexia D.

Not great food, but friendly service and decent pancakes. The gyros and burgers ain't half bad! Don't wait for the check to be brought to the table, just go right up to the counter to pay.

    (3)
  • Barie W.

Johnny's Diner is a decent choice for breakfast considering the options that are in that area. I got the vegetarian omelet, which came with the usual selection of breakfast sides. I'm pretty sure the mushrooms came from a can and I don't consider hash browns a vegetable, but other then that it wasn't bad, and neither was the price. I went with 3 guys and they all cleared their plates. The staff was somewhat friendly and the food came out fast. I wouldn't call Johnny's Diner a greasy spoon, but it's definitely no First Watch. They did had good coffee, I'd go back.

  • Krishna P.

I work on this side of town every Friday and have been looking for a place to eat lunch at. Then one day, as I pull into the plaza where I work, I see Johnny's Diner. I never really noticed them before so I was intrigued. That day I ordered from them and have not looked back since. Now every Friday i am ordering their food and having an amazing lunch. Food taste great and it's incredibly reasonably priced.,

  • Les H.

Went there 6 months ago with my wife. The service was nice, food served quickly. They do not have real butter, just margarine and the sausage is frozen brown and serve style, very gross. How can you serve breakfast and not at least keep some butter pads in the fridge and it is embarrassing that you can't buy fresh meat and portion it yourself. If you want a good breakfast, look elsewhere.

  • Kelly W.

What a great breakfast spot! This place has become a regular spot for me and my family. The eggs are always perfect, the staff is always friendly and spot on, and their prices are very reasonable. For a treat try a waffle or the blueberry pancakes, but avoid the biscuits and gravy, nothing special there.

The best Chicken pita I've ever had! I've been going to Jonnys since I was very young with my grandparents and I I go now as an adult. The breakfast is good and the rice pudding is sooo yummy! Service is quick and friendly. Good for breakfast or a quick lunch.
